FAQ's — A Certain Age Careers

1. Is this the right kind of support for me?

Who do you work with?

I work with women in their 40s, 50s and beyond who are navigating career change, returning to work, or exploring a new direction later in life. Some women come after many years in one field and are wondering what might come next. Others are re-entering the workforce after time away or want support rebuilding confidence and direction.

2. Starting the process

What happens in a Discovery Call?

The Discovery Call is a free 30-minute phone conversation and the starting point for working together. During the call we talk about where you are right now, what has prompted you to reach out, and what you'd like to explore or change in your career. I'll also explain how sessions work and answer any questions you have. There's no pressure to commit to anything — the purpose is simply to see whether working together feels like the right fit for you.

I'm not sure what I want to do next. Can I still book a Discovery Call?

Yes. Many women reach out when they feel uncertain about their next step. You do not need to have a clear plan before booking a Discovery Call. The conversation simply gives you a chance to talk about where you are and explore possible next steps.

3. How working together works

How do the sessions work?

Sessions are one-to-one career development conversations focused on your situation, goals, and next steps. Depending on your needs, sessions may involve clarifying your strengths and values, exploring realistic career options, rebuilding confidence, or identifying practical next steps. Support is offered through a few different options, including individual sessions such as RESET and RENEW, as well as a structured multi-session program in REBUILD. You can read more about these options on the Services page.

Do I have to commit to multiple sessions?

No. Individual sessions such as RESET or RENEW can be booked one at a time. Some women come for a single session to gain clarity about a decision, while others choose to return for additional sessions over time. For women who would like more structured support, REBUILD offers a four or six session program. The difference between the two is space and pace — four sessions offer a focused, purposeful arc, while six sessions allow more room for depth, complexity, and consolidation.

4. Practical questions

How do online sessions work?

Sessions are held online using Microsoft Teams in a calm, confidential setting. If you are booking a Discovery Call, I will call you at your nominated phone number at the scheduled time. For all other sessions, you will receive a Microsoft Teams link 24 hours before your appointment. You simply click the link from your computer, tablet, or phone. Many clients find online sessions convenient because they can join from home and still have a focused conversation.

Do I need to prepare anything before a session?

No preparation is required before your first session. Some clients like to bring their resume or a few notes about their work history, but this is not essential. We can begin wherever you are in the process.

Do you offer a concession rate?

Yes. A limited number of reduced-fee appointments are available for women experiencing financial hardship or holding a current concession card. Please feel welcome to raise this when you get in touch — you can email me directly or mention it during your Discovery Call.

5. Trust and safety

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Conversations during career development sessions are treated as confidential. Your personal information and the details you share about your work history or circumstances are not disclosed to others. The aim is to provide a respectful and supportive space where you can speak openly about your career situation. Confidentiality does have limits — we are required by law to act if there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person, or if disclosure is required by a court order. These situations are rare, and I would always aim to discuss any concerns with you first wherever it is safe to do so.
